DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET A PIERCING?

Not at all! We do not offer bookings for piercings. All piercings are conducted on a walk-in basis, first in first served. If you're getting an Intimates piercing, you will need to call ahead to ensure that a piercer trained in this procedure is available on the day, and at your desired location (please click here for studio contact details), otherwise just come on in! Promotional periods and school holidays attract a large response so please be patient and expect small wait times within these times of trade.

HOW MANY PIERCINGS CAN I GET DONE IN ONE SESSION?

You can have as many piercings as you want done in one session.
However, the body's ability to heal suggests more than four piercings in one session can  warrant a longer healing process. In this case, a high level of health is advised fueling the body with nutrients from water, fruits, and vegetables and ensuring you are following the cleaning/care guide provided to you.

        DO YOU USE PIERCING GUNS?

        NEVER

CAN YOU NUMB THE AREA BEFORE YOU PIERCE IT?

We do not offer topical numbing agents and cannot legally administer such agents. We do  not encourage the use of these prior to getting a piercing. Piercings are very brief, and the experience is over as quickly as it began.

HOW LONG DO I NEED TO WAIT BEFORE I CAN CHANGE MY JEWELRY?

Please refer to our aftercare page for specific healing times.
The healing periods will dictate when you are in a position to change your jewelry to something new, provided that at that time, the piercing has healed as expected.

WHAT IS YOUR BODY JEWELRY MADE OF?

We have a wide range of body jewelry in various metals, acrylics, organics, and bio-compatible materials.
For initial piercings, we use only 316L surgical stainless steel (available in a range of colors) as well as G23 Titanium.
For those metal sensitive, we recommend you select Titanium for your piercing needs.

CAN I BRING MY OWN JEWELRY TO GET PIERCED WITH?

No, we do not accept any customer jewelry for initial piercing procedures even if purchased previously from a Punktured studio, as we can not determine if the jewelry has passed through anyone else's body since leaving our studio, or the quality of the metal you are bringing to us if purchased elsewhere. This is to ensure the highest safety to all that pass through our studios.
Only in exceptional circumstances will this be an option.

CAN YOU CHANGE MY JEWELRY FOR ME?

Yes indeed we can! There is no charge to change over jewelry if purchasing the  jewelry from a Punktured studio, provided you are requesting to have a Punktarian assist you with this on the day of purchase. Jewelry purchased elsewhere will incur a $5 fee for the change over assistance due to the cost of equipment used during this process.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY PIERCING?

For all piercings during healing AVOID:
Moving or rotating your jewelry where possible. This will hinder the healing process and extend your healing time. This will also increase your risk of irritation and the potential for an infection to develop.

Touching your piercing as this can increase the chance of infection. Ensure hands are clean every time you touch your piercing.
Over cleaning. Only clean your piercing as directed by your piercer.

        Oral contact.

Sleeping on it - the constant pressure from this can change the angle that your piercing heals on.

Chlorine as this can cause irritation. So avoid pools and spas for the entire healing period.
Changing your jewelry prior to the recommended healing period - you may damage the healing tissue and/or develop an infection.

Shampoo, conditioner residue and soaps. Make sure you rinse these away thoroughly.
Restrictive clothing and unwashed linen. Cotton and breathable materials will benefit over synthetic materials.

Illicit drugs and alcohol consumption for the duration of the healing period (Especially with oral piercings).
These things will hinder your ability to successfully heal and can cause unnecessary bleeding and swelling.
        Remember to:
        Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
        Change bedding and towels regularly.
Contact your piercer if you have any questions or queries.

I'M WORRIED ABOUT MY PIERCING. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Make sure you’re following the after care instructions your piercer gave you.
Some redness and swelling is expected for certain piercings as your piercer would have explained.
If you think you’re experiencing too much redness or swelling, or if you have queries, or if you’re just not sure if your piercing is healing correctly, please call us or come back into your local Punktured store and have it assessed.
Even if you’ve been pierced somewhere else, we’re happy to help.

CAN I EAT OR DRINK BEFORE AND AFTER MY PIERCING?

Eating before a piercing and ensuring your body is well fueled is great. Maintaining a healthy diet after your new piercing is always recommended. In the case of oral piercings, avoid alcohol, spicy foods, and dairy based products.

        DRUGS & ALCOHOL

In most cases, the consumption of drugs and/or alcohol WILL affect the healing process and promote undesirable effects during the healing period.
In the case of oral piercings alcohol consumption of any type will cause further complications to swelling, healing and can induce many other issues. These can be further outlined by one of our friendly piercers
It is strongly advised against until healing is complete, and even then, in moderation.

If you have any questions about your piercing, just ask - we're always happy to help!
The only silly question is a question not asked.
